“I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in 2004 at the age of 35, while I was pregnant with my son. I enjoyed over five years of remission, before havi...ng a recurrence of IBC in 2010. Since then, I have been Stage IV but stable for seven years. My quality of life is excellent, my son is now twelve years old and healthy, I work full time, and I have published three books of poetry. My advice to women is to seek medical attention, no matter how young they are, if their breasts exhibit the signs of IBC. I had no lump, and yet I still had breast cancer.” – Anya Silver, living with metastatic breast cancer
Throughout her journey, Anya has received support and guidance from the Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) Research Foundation. Komen is proud to collaborate with organizations like IBCRF.

Today-and always-I remain committed to the fight against breast cancer. I began this “pink journey” in January of 2005 when my mom found out she had breast cancer. Although, she fought a very valiant fight, my mom, Linda, passed away in the fall of 2006. I vowed-I would do all I could do to get the “word” out about early detection and raise funds to help others with their fight and become the victor in their battle.
Fundraising and volunteering have become my way of “copin...g” with the loss of my best friend and to also be able to “pay it forward” for the wonderful 38 years I had with my mom.
11 years later, through the help and support of so many, and after so many wonderful events we have produced together, $360,000 has collectively been raised and donated to the local Susan G Komen affiliate -where every day the dollars are put to work in our community helping to serve the under insured to receive mammograms, diagnostic testing, chemotherapy, and after care.
My journey continues until a cure is found-please contact me if you would like to collaborate on an event or would like to volunteer with me to help others.
I am always looking for “pink” partners!
